Wow wow wow. wow. Crazy insane week just happened, kinda don't know how I made it through. This week we had interviews with president, zone conference, exchanges with the district leader (E. Macarthur) AND... emergency exchanges!!! Elder Sanchez got the call on Saturday that he's going to be an office missionary which is so so sick. That means that I get to be in a trio for the next two weeks with E. Guerra and E. Mac-daddy-Arthur himself. That ALSO means that our two areas are now kinda smashed together, so we have twice the things to cover in the next two weeks.

Oh and we share one phone between the three of us. The email situation for the next couple weeks is going to be a wee bit messy🥳

Here's a couple stories now. I'm a little scatterbrained so yay.

-Exchanges
Just a great time. Love speaking English, eating nachos (shout out aunt Linda), and staying up till 3 am talking haha.

-Zone Conference
Just a great time. Love feeling the spirit and focusing with all my heart mind and strength to understand what they were talking about for 5 hours haha. Bomb food after though so that's another yay

-Candido
Just a great time talking to him. Love teaching him. He's a golden investigator
that came to church and just soaks up the gospel, agrees with everything we say.

-Psycho crazy person
Not such a great time. We thought he was going to be an awesome reference, especially after he eagerly invited us into his house. After an hour we found out he doesn't believe in God or the Bible, but only in his experiences he's had. He went to our church one time and said we're all manipulated idiots. Not fun

Anyways just a little reminder to act on the spirit. I've been a chump and not been doing that. When a thought that's not bad comes to your mind, please do it. You'll never regret acting on the spirit.

Love and miss you guys so muchhh:)

Fun week and stuff

Gooooood morning and happy monday to everyone reading this. Things are going just swell here in Durango Mexico.

Good news people! Today is going to be my first baptism and I could not be more excited. I would be more excited if I was the one actually baptizing him, but hey a baptism's a baptism. We've been teaching Ezequiel for the past 2-3 months and in return, he's been putting songs on his story in whatsapp for us to stay sane. He doesn't know about that second part of the agreementt though, I think he just really wants a girlfriend and thinks that putting different songs about heartbreak on his story will help him out ahaha.

Anyways yay Baptism today

This week we had a crazy time doing exchanges with the zone leaders. We ended up staying with them for two nights which for them I'm sure was a blast, but for me was a pretty sub par time. Being an American that doesn't speak great Spanish and also didn't bring a change of clothes for the 2 night 3 day extravangaza does that lol.

During this expedition with the ZL's, we got hungry. Pretty innocent, right? Wrong. We went to go get Little Caesers. I was STOKED for American food. This was the only Little Caesers in Durango. We walked into the store. And right back out of the store. Because it was closed. Major bummer. As we started walking away in defeat, a lady starts screaming bloody murder. Luckily, we quickly realized that this was a scream not from fear, but from an excessive amount of pleasure. Why she and her significant other chose to be parked in a Little Caesers with their car window unrolled is beyond me. That's okay though because it gave me a chance to spread the gospel and throw a law of chastity pamphlet in the car. God puts us in places for a reason🙏♥

Unfortunately, I didn't actually do that. But now I carry law of chastity pamphlets at all times because you never know.

During the exchanges we had an awesome lunch lesson with a member. E. Montes decided to talk about gratitude and shared the story of the three wisemen and their gifts. I thought this was a little strange at first, but now I love it because it sparked a little thought in my good ol thinker.

Even though it isn't the designated holiday season anymore to be extra grateful, we should still always have gratitude. For EVERYTHING. Please try to take a look around this week, and just be grateful. Say a quick prayer or two and express your love. Boom quick spiritual thought.

Love you all, don't die from Covid

Also the baptism ate up my day and my email time. I'll try my best to reply to everyone lol

Family, friends, acquaintances. I hope you're all just as excited as I am to have a fresh start with this new week. This week a cold front has hit Durango which has been amazing. We got an emergency message that told us that temperatures in Torreon and Chiuaua were going to get as low as -25 degrees Celsius. Mexico is whack.

This week wasn't the worst but wasn't particularly the best. To show this I wanted to play a game of good thing bad thing with myself, you can play along if you really want to.

GOOD THINGS

  • -It rained yesterday
  • -We found a dope guy named Rogellio
  • -Had consistent water for almost the whole week🥳
  • -No Cholo or witch sightings
  • -Finished giving my first talk in Spanish

BAD THINGS

  • -Companionship struggles
  • -People of Mexico hate the gospel now
  • -everyone has Covid
  • -Had to give a talk in Spanish lol

Man that was a fun game. My talk ended up being 12 minutes long which I was stoked about. I even saw a couple of ladies nodding their head in agreement at a couple of the things I said.

Pretty much everyone in Mexico has Covid rn. The new megatron or decepticon or omnitryx or whatever strain has taken over missionary work in the course of one week. Last week there was nothing. This week all of our investigators have "The Gripe." AND to top off the Covid news, we found out that we can't do activities with the other missionaries. Who knows what's happening though because the district leader invited us to play basketball today ahaha.

One mini miracle. A kid named Jonathan is super interested in the church and has read the entire book of mormon. Unfortunately, the past couple times we've gone over to teach him, his sketchy dad has sent us away. Both times he has talked through the door which we thought was weird.

Fast forward a week and me and Sanchez were taking a really weird route to get to my guy Rogellios house. We passed through a park and E. Sanchez told me in broken English that it was Spanish practice time. Before I knew what to think, he walked up to a random person and said that I wanted to explain the Book of Mormon to him. I rolled with it and stumbled through a 3 minute lesson. Halfway through the lesson though, he stopped me and ended up teaching me the rest of the lesson... I was a bit confused to say the least ahaha. After he was done talking he was like you guys don't realize who I am huh.

Turns out that the random guy Sanchez picked was Jonathan's dad!! So insanely random and crazy. He was a super nice dude and apparently his wife and daughter are baptized. We're now going to give a lesson to them this Friday🥳

I know that experience wasn't just a coincidence. I am positive we were led to talk to him at that very time. The Lord directs us through our lives in weird, hard to understand ways. Nonetheless, he is directing is to where we need to be.

Have faith and find comfort in the fact that God is leading you to where you need to be

Happy freaking new years to all of you goobers out there! Hope you all had a wonderful time partying it up, if you didn't stay up till past 12 on New years eve then what the heck.

This week was pretty freaking nuts, especially because it was transfers!! Nah just kidding, transfers pretty much didn't even happen. I have the priviledge to be with the great Elder Sanchez for another cambio in the same area with pretty much the same district. But big things are in the works here Durango, just you wait.

This week I'm 90% sure we taught a witch. There's a lovely lady named Vicki, who we normally teach at her friends house, but she's been ghosting us for the past two weeks, so we decided to go straight to her house. Here's where we're gonna start a tally of all the different things that point to her being a witch

-Lives a block or two away from the largest cathedral in the city.
-Lives in a tiny room in the back of a shop
-Was wearing all black
-Is 87 years old
-Has an obsession with cats and would only talk about cats.
-Believes in reincarnation (especially of cats)
-Has a pentagram necklace and a few posters of pentagrams around her house.

Sooooo ya, we managed to make it out alive. After 3 hours. Super crazy funny experience, super nice lady though.

On new years eve we stayed with the Zone leaders, but that might've been a bad idea. Turns out that they were marked by Cholos the night before. Some dude broke into their house and spray painted a sign that means "vuevle pronto" in spanish, which in english that means we return soon.

On top of THAT, here they love to shoot their automatic guns like crazy on new years eve. So if the Cholos decided to return that same night and shoot us up, no one would have even cared ahaha. Nothing happened  though so yay.

So many other crazy stories that I wish I could share with all of you, but unfortunately long emails are the worst. I'm not really a fan of being the worst lol.

I hope you all have a wonderful week, if you want go start Ether and read it along with me! The brother of Jared was nutsss.

Just realized I took like zero pics, so here's me and Sanchez eating churros lol.
