My fellow Americans, what is freaking good. This week was a world wind of crazy but that's not really new.

This week I had the priviledge of only sleeping in my bed three out of the seven days. I was on exchanges with Elder Alcala, Jimenez, Bermudez, and had a sleepover with the zone leaders. All lovely perks of being the district leader's companion lol. Had loads of fun though, we're doing exchanges with everyone again this week because our mission stat sheet for finding people and what not has been pretty lousy, which is mking the leaders STRESSED. Pretty funny lol.

Saturday, we got a text from the bishop at like 9pm, asking for a favor. That's when I knew we were screwed. He asked us if we could give talks about mission work. At first, I was thinking "Well shoot, the last time I gave a talk, it took me 6 hours just to write everything out." This time though, I studied for 5 minutes, and gave a 10 minute spanish talk that, not to brag or anything, was pretty dang good. I even got one of those two minutes left notesπŸ’ͺ Dunno how but somehow I'm a missionary lol

This week we also had a little devotional study thing, and I was lucky that I got to watch it during an intercambio with E. Alcala. We started out just talking about random comments about the devotional, and ended up with some craaazy deep doctrine that was sweet. Biggest thing that we learned though was that, without baptism, we CANNOT be fully repented. So, if you already are baptized, please take the time this week to exercise the power of this covenant to become clean once again.

Partake of the sacrament and take advantage of the opportunity we have to be made anew every single second.

Oh ya, and a little cherry on top for the week was that I absolutely puked and pooped my guts last night. I'm typing this all out from my bed and I'll probably go asleep again after I send this out to you goobers. The things I do for you guys ;)

Bye bye take care and stay healthy(please)

Elder Winegar: On Tour

Monday, February 28, 2022

Hey hey, thanks for being here today. Wherever you are right now, sit down, crack open a cold one, and just read and relax. You deserve it.

This week was definitely a week. There's been a heck ton of wind, which in a city of nothing but dirt makes for exciting walks. One night my hair felt like I'd just gotten back from being buried at the beach or something lol.

This first week with my new companion Elder Alejandro has been quite the adjustment haha. He's a super cool dude that worked at a bonafont water factory and already has his degree in chemical engineering, I guess that's what happens when you go on your mission when you're 25 lol.

Another funny story happened when I was going to put my phone in my pocket during the week. Unfortunately, it did not make it into my pocket, but in fact missed completely. Soooo ya that's going to be a fun P-day adventure today: finding a repair shop for shattered phone screens :))

Here's a little scripture I really liked this week!

Genesis 18:14- "Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son"

Some time later in chapter 21, Sarah finally has her son, Isaac, at a super old age. In verse 6, Sarah says-

"God hath made me to rejoice, so that all that hear will rejoice with me"

There is LITERALLY nothing that is too hard for the Lord. At times we can feel like we've been abandoned and left utterly alone. But don't you worry. The Lord will return at his appointed time to exercise miracles. Miracles so great, that it will cause the people around you to rejoice along side you.

Keep living righteously and have faith, great things are coming

Deuces,

E. Winegar

Weekly of Elder Winegar

Monday, February 21, 2022

What's good friends, hope you're all enjoying your washing machines this week!! This week was freaking awesome, life in the trio is like living on cloud 9. Unfortunately, we have transfers today, so elder Guerra and my favorite elder McArthur are headed to torreΓ³n. That leaves me with a 26 year old dude that's going to be my companion for the next six weeks. He's been out for the same amount of time as me which will be fun, I'm way stoked!

Best part of this week was having an exchange with Elder McArthur and elder harrop. We had three or four lessons and put my guy candido (golden investigator) on date to be baptized this Saturday, and all before 4 pm. We lived it up after that and bought loads of stuff from el Mercado, I'll add pics of my sweet shoes lol. Sadly, elder harrop is going home today for his one or two torn labrums and for nerve cysts he's been getting. Super huge bummer, but it made for the best exchange possible.

Another story was when we were walking along and said hi to a random person that said hi back to us in perfect English. Elder McArthur and I ran back and stopped him and we started talking to what turned out to be the coolest person I've met so far. Donovan is from Boulder Colorado and has been walking for 30 years. Kinda like Forrest Gump but in real life. He's been to 28 different countries, knows German, Portuguese, German, and a whole bunch of other dialects. He said he used to use a bike, but that it was too limiting hahaha.

I just wanna let you guys know the church is true!! My favorite lesson to teach here is the restoration because everytime we teach it, the spirit testifies of its truthfulness to me. I encourage all of you to just go read that sacred account of the first vision this week, maybe even out loud. I promise the spirit will testify of the truthfulness of this gospel. I'm pumped for this upcoming transfer in a newish area, love you guys

End of an era

Monday, February 14, 2022

Hey hey this week went QUICK, life in the trio does that though. We've been able to kinda successfully cover the two areas we're in charge of and had loads of super sweet lessons with people this week. Oh ya also we had a baptism this Saturday which was awesome.

Cool story this week was that I got my first kiss here in Mexico. One of the nights we went and hung out with one of the members here and next thing I knew we got in a car to go to her sisters house. I didn't really know what was happening, but we got to her sisters house and her sister was super excited to see us. So she went and hugged Elder Guerra. She came over to me next and gave me a hug, but thought it I needed a kiss on the cheek too so then boom I got a kiss on the cheek. That family also had a bunch of chickens in their backyard that they've been raising for chicken fights. I think we're going to one of their cock fights this next sunday so there should be some awesome pics there.

I'm typing this as I'm talking in bed with Elder McArthur and I'm also half asleep so I'm so sorry if this email is crazy.

Super awesome spiritual thing was we had another lesson with Candido! We taught him about the restoration, but things got really good when we taught him about the word of wisdom. He sat quietly the entire time and when we finally finished, he started saying, "I didn't know, I didn't know, I wouldn't have done so many things if I had known." After explaining that he can repent with the atonement of Christ, he started crying and the spirit was so strong.

I'm so grateful for this gospel. The opportunity we have to repent is amazing. I'm so grateful for Christ and sacrafice he made. As we all go throughout this life, always trying to improve ourselves, I know that Christ will continue to help us.

Hope you guys have an awesome week, happy Febuary and go live it uppp
-E. Winegar
